for my mother, Maud
based up recent posts on my Zen Mirror Blog I thought I'd post this poem for my mom.
for my mother, Maud
there comes a time in everyone’s life
when the finality of death
becomes an intimate yet unwanted friend,
and we find ourselves with no other choice
but to grieve
and to let go
and to remember
the brightness that we all once shared.
in those times of her life-
which she lived just right,
I can find myself here and now
being sanctified by this very moment.
the presence of her blessings
both cherished and sacred deep within my soul.
for all the myriad reasons
that we find our own breath flowing in and out,
it is in just this way
that we open to cycles of human existence,
we can pay homage to the legacy
of each moment, each single moment
this can not be explained.
love is the universal force
between us all,
and those who are left behind
with our treasured relationships
that will never – ever – pass from this bounded existence
realize the importance of sharing that love – just now.

This was so beautiful... thank you so much, Paul.
Gassho, my friend.
A monk said it best.
Really beautiful. You helped remind me of how fortunate I am to have my mother still here.
our motivations in life are to allow those nearest to us to benefit from our experiences as well as not making our same mistakes. Thanks all.

"being sanctified by this very moment"
